Miss "E's" little witch costume this year. I found it at Childrens Place and had to buy it so that I could get something good for the money. She was so excited to try it on and then I asked if I could get some pictures..... she was game until I was ready. Anywho......out of the few shots that I got this one is my favorite.

Hi,
I was looking at the blog pictures in real time that Blogger has up when I saw a gorgeous portrait and since I love to take my family's pictures I had to click on it. I was happily surprised when I saw that you were in Utah as well. I figured it must be fate and I just was dying to ask you a few questions. I'm really impressed to see how your pictures have changed over the last year. I think that your work is great. If for any reason you don't want to give away any secrets thats fine! I basically just take pictures of my family and friends for scrapbooks but am always interested in getting better! So first off I was wondering what your tools of the trade are. What camera do you use and what lens do you think is best for portraits? Do you ever shoot film or just digital? Secondly, what do you think are some of the most important things you learned to do in photoshop? I don't own it yet... but I really want to!! And third.. where do you find all these amazing backgrounds for your pictures?? I live in Lehi which is about as urban as... ok its not. LOL. Some times I manage to find something in my searches... I'm working on that :) So I just want to thank you ahead of time if you even read this! I know its long! I just got excited lol.
Thanks! Tracie

Tracie,
I would love to help you out with any questions.
I use a Canon 20D all digital and just got a new lense that I love it is the 24-70 2.8 and it has a pretty price on it. I use that one now for everything. I do plan on getting the 70-200 2.8 sometime. As for photoshop that is a very valuable tool for making your pictures amazing (I think) post processing is a must. I actually use main street in lehi for some of my urban stuff. There is a photo op anywhere you just have to be able to see it of which has taken me some time but I am getting better at it. I can't even drive down the round without looking for a location. I'm going to get into an accident someday. Anyways if you have anymore questions you can email me at photographybyjess@gmail.com

Thanks,
Jess
